Helena Cruz

Champalimaud Foundation Clinical Partner Team Member

I was born in Coimbra, in the center of Portugal, lived most of my life in Braga (up in the North) and finally settled down in the south, in Lisbon, after living abroad for some years in the United Kingdom, Belgium and Brazil.
My background is in Biomedical Engineering and I spent several years in the laboratory doing research in the field of biomaterials and nanotoxicology to improve the development of metallic implants surfaces and their osteointegration. In 2017, I decided it was time for a change and joined the Clinical Trials Unit at Champalimaud Foundation, where I worked closely with patients and medical teams. From then on, I have been mostly working with breast cancer clinical studies and trials. It is with great pleasure that I am now the CINDERELLA Project Manager.
Traveling to new places and eating local food is a guilty pleasure of mine, playing tennis is my favorite sport, and good music and cinema have been a great influence in my life. I memorize places and people with specific soundtracks.
Disney has always been a great passion of mine, and somehow I have always managed to have a little bit of its magic in my professional field. It will not be different with CINDERELLA as I aim for a happy (aesthetic outcome) ending for all women that look at themselves in the mirror after their treatments.
