Nicole Rotmensz was born and educated in Brussels, Belgium.
After a Master in Social Sciences from the Free University of Brussels, she started her career at the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) where she specialised in data management for clinical studies on breast and gynaecological cancer.
She then decided to move to Italy, where sun is more often shining than in rainy Brussels. She came to Milan to work at the National Tumour Institute, in the team of Umberto Veronesi. She participated to the conduction of large studies on breast cancer chemoprevention.
After a couple of years, she was hired by Peter Boyle to be part of the starting team of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of the new-born European Institute of Oncology (IEO), Milan. She developed her career in this stimulating research environment, being in charge of clinical data organisation and tumour registry of the IEO. And when Boyle decided to go back to Lyon where he accepted to become the Director of the International Agency for Research on Cancer, she became the director of the IEO, Quality Control Unit.
During this period she was co-author of over than 200 publications in peer reviewed journals
Recently she joined the Breast Cancer Surgery Division of Ospedale San Raffaele where she is Study Coordinator of the numerous research projects.
