“As a young adult, I rode a lot of racing bikes. Unfortunately, there were several falls during which I sustained some permanent injuries on my back. Since then, I have struggled with back pain, and I was convinced that this pain would never leave me.
I came to CrossFit more than ten years ago by accident. Gradually, I learned that chronic pain is not something that cannot be improved. Over time, I got to know my body better through CrossFit and got my problems under control. Along that, my wife – a professor of sports biology – has focused her research on this sport, especially in connection with chronic diseases, including cancer.
Today I am pain-free and do CrossFit with great enthusiasm. In 2017 I also decided to acquire my first coaching license. In my spare time, I am now a volunteer trainer at CrossFit Kokoro, the oldest German military CrossFit affiliate. And CrossFit is now the sport for the whole family. The picture is taken from our garden, where we replaced our relaxing corner with an outdoor training place.”
