Meet Eduard-Alexandru Bonci, also known as Eddie. Born in Transylvania, Romania, he studied Medicine in Cluj-Napoca. While there, he became involved in the Medical Students’ Organisation, which played a pivotal role in shaping his life and career aspirations.
Eddie became a board-certified General Surgeon and earned his PhD from Iuliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) in 2021. He also served as an Assistant Lecturer for the Department of Surgical and Gynecologic Oncology.
After over a decade in Cluj-Napoca, he decided to explore new breast cancer treatment methods and surgical techniques. Eddie is now part of the Breast Unit Team at Champalimaud Clinical Centre and Assistant Project Coordinator for the CINDERELLA Project. He plans on earning his BRESO Certification to further advance his knowledge in the field.
Eddie enjoys travelling, walking, watching movies, and playing tennis. He is committed to staying up-to-date on surgical oncology advancements and to providing the best care possible for his patients. He also recognizes the importance of social media in connecting with patients and colleagues. Moreover, he hopes to make an impact in surgical research, surgical oncology education, and mentorship in countries with limited resources.
